The property

Our town, San Gimignano, is renowned worldwide for its skyline, which features dozens of medieval towers, earning it the nickname “Medieval Manhattan.” Surrounded by stunning countryside with valleys and hills adorned with vineyards, olive groves, and forests, San Gimignano also provides easy access to Florence and Siena, the other major art cities of Tuscany, thanks to excellent road and rail connections.

The history of Palazzo Buonaccorsi, listed as a Cultural and Artistic Heritage site by the Siena Superintendency, dates back to the 13th century. Over the centuries, the palace has changed hands among various families. The earliest written records mentioning it date back to the 15th century when it was purchased by Michele da Pisa from the Venerosi family, who added the surname Pesciolini, likely linked to a nickname related to fishing.

Apollonia, one of Michele's daughters, inherited much of her father's wealth and married the son of Francesco Brogi, who owned another tower house on Via San Matteo. Their second son changed the surname from Brogi to Pesciolini and inherited the Tower and the Palace. In the 17th century, the Palazzo was acquired by a member of the Vichi family, who made it their residence until 1927, when the Boldrini family purchased it from Giuseppe Vichi, the city’s municipal engineer.

In 1990, Pietro Boldrini and his wife decided to convert the second floor of the Palazzo into a tourist residence. Today, their son Pierluigi, along with his wife, proudly continues the family tradition by welcoming guests into this historic residence, providing them with a delightful stay beneath the medieval towers of San Gimignano.

Palazzo Buonaccorsi features comfortable rooms, each named after members of the ancient aristocratic families that have owned the palace over the centuries. The rooms, located on the second floor, are furnished with original furniture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, creating a spacious, bright, and very comfortable atmosphere.

Particular attention is paid to cleanliness, which is maintained daily. Three of the rooms have private bathrooms with showers, while the other three share a large common bathroom, also equipped with a shower; this setup is especially suitable for families or groups of friends traveling together.

Palazzo Buonaccorsi has preserved its original features, such as terracotta floors, wooden beam ceilings, and period furnishings. Thanks to ongoing maintenance and renovation efforts, the palace retains the unique charm of a medieval residence, offering guests a distinctive experience in the heart of San Gimignano.
