The property
Ca’ Bertù Farm Stay is a charming historic residence set amid the peaceful hills of the Bologna countryside. It occupies an old tower house that has belonged to the same family for more than a century. With its notable architectural and historical importance, the building is a fine example of the type of construction created by the Comacine masters between the 12th and 14th centuries. A thoughtful restoration, carried out with great respect for its original character, has preserved the property’s historic appeal while adding the comforts of modern living.
The farm stay offers four guest rooms and two apartments, all welcoming and carefully furnished, with space for up to 20 guests in total. The rooms include the Rondine Suite, which sleeps three; the double Istrice Room; the Lepre Suite, suitable for four guests; and the single Poiana Room on the ground floor, which has a bathroom adapted for guests with disabilities.
The Ginestra Apartment is ideal for four people and is arranged over two floors, with a living room downstairs and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs. The Torre Apartment accommodates up to six guests and features a spacious living room, two double bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms connects to the inside of the historic tower, where a cosy sitting room offers lovely views across the surrounding hills.
All accommodation includes a private bathroom, heating, television, hairdryer, mirror and luggage stand. A baby cot is available on request. Guests can also make use of the parking area, outdoor spaces and garden—perfect for relaxing outside. Pets are welcome, and guests may return to the property at any hour.
Ca’ Bertù is a wonderful choice for families with children, couples seeking a quiet romantic break, and visitors drawn to nature and history. It also suits those travelling for work. Surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, the property is an excellent starting point for walks, hikes and cycling or mountain-bike excursions.
Nearby, visitors can explore picturesque medieval villages such as Castello di Serravalle, Monteveglio and Bazzano, along with the many smaller towns in the Bologna area. Local festivals and events offer a chance to discover regional traditions and food and wine specialties. Bologna is around 30 minutes away by car, while Modena can be reached in about 40 minutes, making Ca’ Bertù a convenient base for discovering some of Emilia-Romagna’s most appealing destinations.
Guests are welcomed by Elisabetta, a graduate in agricultural sciences, who looks after the historic property with her family. Passed down through generations, the home reflects their deep connection to the area and its history. Their warm, thoughtful hospitality is designed to help every visitor feel at home. The owners speak Italian and English.
